Renterval FAQs
We designed Renterval to be intuitive and easy to use, but we probably didn’t think of everything. Below are answers to questions we’ve received:
Q. How can I trust the merchant or customer I’m dealing with?
A. Trust between users and merchants is essential for a successful rental. Renterval provides several checks and balances to protect both the customer and the merchant. Those protections include:
- Merchant rating - only customers who have successfully completed a transaction with a merchant may provide a rating of the experience. There is no way for a merchant to falsify his or her rating score. This rating is the first thing you should look for when you’re evaluating various providers.
- Customer payment confirmation - before a customer will be connected with a merchant, the customer must provide valid payment information. Merchants can be sure when a rental is scheduled that the customer has the ability to pay.
- Signed invoice before payment processing - Before Renterval will charge the customer’s account for the rental, we must receive an invoice signed by the customer. As a customer, if you’re not happy with the merchant’s performance, your first opportunity to make a complaint is to refuse to sign the invoice.
- Final confirmation before payment is processed - Customers will be notified immediately prior to payment settlement. This is a customer’s last opportunity to object to payment collection.
Q. When will I be charged (or paid)?
A. Customers will be charged after the scheduled date of the transaction and once Renterval receives an invoice signed by the customer. Once these requirements are met, payment will be collected within 3 days. Merchants will receive payment 2 to 3 days following customer payment collection.
Q. Can I communicate with the merchant prior to renting a listing?
A. Yes, feel free to contact the merchant with questions through the “contact merchant” link on the right-hand side of the renting information page (right below the merchant rating).
Q. What is your dispute resolution policy?
A. Check out our dispute resolution and other policies on our Policies page.
Q. How do I use the calendar?
A. Merchants should maintain an up-to-date calendar of merchant availability. Renterval will automatically update the calendar for all rentals purchased through the site, but all other periods of unavailablity are the merchant’s responsibility.
